I am pleased to have the opportunity to articulate the desire for the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø to achieve University of Sanctuary status.
Our University Mission Statement is ‘Transforming Education, Transforming Lives’ underpins everything that we do. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is mindful of our position as a University which is from and of Wales, a Nation of Sanctuary, and which operates in part within the Swansea region, a City of Sanctuary. As a University we seek to support the stated aims of the Nation of Sanctuary and wish to play our part in welcoming refugees and asylum seekers to Wales.
We are committed to providing educational opportunities and support to assist individuals in rebuilding their lives and fulfilling their potential. We celebrate the skills, experience and resilience of refugees and asylum seekers and recognise the contribution that this group can and has made to Wales. The University has a proud tradition of project activity and work with refugees and with people seeking asylum. This project allows us to focus our policies, our support, our activity and our partnership network together under one banner to ensure that our commitment is clear and unequivocal: the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is a University of Sanctuary.
