Agnes's MA Graphic Design Experience
What is your favourite thing about Swansea campus?
The university has amazing workshop facilities where I had the opportunity to explore all traditional printing methods like letterpress, block printing, screen, riso and UV printing.
The lecturers and workshop technicians not only encouraged me, but also provided all the help I needed, including opportunities to explore other departments’ workshops, as well as widening my experiments by giving me a chance to visit surface pattern, ceramic and glass workshops, naming only a handful of the numerous options available.
Why did you choose ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø?
My husband completed his HND, MSc (Hons), and his Master’s at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø alongside working at the University. I carried out research on the various courses available of which I quickly discovered the long list of student successes, along with the high standard and supportive learning experience. I also discovered the opportunities for practical experience and the university’s strong connections with external companies etc. From this knowledge I had gained of the university, I decided it was going to be the best university for me to attend.
What do you enjoy outside your studies?
I love to be creative, design and make many different dresses, jewellery, embroidery items etc. With one of my pieces, I was the winner of the Student Innovation Award at World of WearableArt 2022 held in New Zealand.
I love connecting to nature, walking my dog, and spending time with my family here in the UK and Hungary.
What do you hope to do when you graduate?
When I graduate, I would love to work in an artistic environment.
I would ideally secure a job in education, where I can carry on developing and learning new skills, ensuring to pass on my many years of experience onto other upcoming talented students with the objective of inspiring a new generation of artists.
What is your favourite thing about your course?
Being surrounded by incredibly talented, inspiring, and supportive people.
Would you recommend ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and why?
I would highly recommend this course to others as I not only had an amazing amount of opportunity to explore and experiment with traditional and non-traditional design methods, but the course itself having a highly industry-focused structure helped me to gain extremely valuable skills to be able to build a career within the industry in the future. For example: I was able to develop a city-wide climate campaign ‘Swansea Project Zero’ for Swansea Council, which is now being used by the project members of Climate Change and Nature Action Signatories Group.
