What was your favourite thing about Swansea campus?
What I really liked about my campus was its convenient proximity to various amenities. Situated near the train station, town centre, printing studio, and student accommodations, it facilitated easy access to essential facilities. On campus, all the computer rooms on my floor were equipped with up-to-date Mac PCs, a crucial resource for my course.
Why did you choose ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø?
My selection of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø/Swansea College of Art stemmed from its distinguished focus on art education. Accessible course details on their website allowed me to thoroughly assess each semester’s curriculum. The comprehensive course prospectus provided essential insights for my university decision. Despite pandemic restrictions hindering visits, I received prompt and thorough support throughout the application process, notably from Course Leader Donna Williams. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s advantageous location near the city centre, vibrant nightlife, dependable public transport, and scenic marina-based main library further solidify its appeal to university students.
What do you enjoy outside your studies?
Outside university I spend my time down the beach, having coffee dates in The Secret or walking down the Mumbles. I am also a massive foodie and enjoy trying new restaurants with my friends. I am very social and enjoy a drink or two down Wind Street, but I also love a chilled night playing pool or having a game of bowling.
What do you hope to do when you graduate?
Post-graduation, my aim is to secure a full-time position or internship within my field of expertise. My ideal job involves joining a small team of graphic designers in a firm such as Pink Pony Creative, renowned for its work in corporate identity, branding, and packaging design. I have a keen interest in a year-long stint abroad, working as a graphic designer and developing my skills in a city environment. My ultimate career aspiration is to work as a freelance professional, catering to a broad and distinguished clientele base, while concurrently establishing my own company.
What was your favourite thing about your course?
Numerous aspects endeared my course to me; foremost among them was the unwavering support and encouragement from our lecturers.
They accompany students on the transformative journey through university, fostering growth from first year to graduation. Additionally, I cherished the diverse opportunities facilitated by the university, including interactions with graphic design firms and freelance professionals who offered invaluable guidance; for example, I was lucky enough to work with Swansea City AFC Foundation for a six-month internship. Furthermore, the array of on-campus workshops enhanced the learning experience, providing convenient access to enriching resources. This integration of support, networking, and practical resources contributed significantly to my appreciation of the course.
Would you recommend ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and why?
Certainly, I wholeheartedly recommend ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. Throughout my three-year course, I consistently received exceptional support from my lecturers, who were always attentive to any concerns or queries. The university maintained regular communication, keeping us updated on developments and forthcoming changes. Notably, in the final year, ample opportunities were presented for internships, allowing us to collaborate with graphic designers and esteemed organisations. This hands-on experience has significantly enriched our skill set, proving invaluable in job applications and interview settings.
