David's BEng Motorcycle Engineering Experience
What was your favourite thing about Swansea campus?
The best thing was the motorcycle workshops where we were able to put theory into practice.
Why did you choose ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø?
I moved to Swansea because I saw that the course could help me to find a job in motorcycle racing and was a very good balance between theory and practice. Also, I wanted to experience living in a foreign country. I messaged another Italian guy who was attending the course, and he confirmed my expectations. I was working as a CAD designer in Italy at the time; I then applied and attended an English school to improve my language during my evenings after work.
What did you enjoy outside your studies?
I loved Swansea beach. I was part of the athletics track team as a sprinter and I met lovely friends who I still see now.
What are you doing now, how did you get to where you are and how has your course helped you in your career?
I’m a design engineer for Triumph Racing for the World MX2 and Supercross teams. I’m in charge of designing the best components to suit riders’ riding styles and meeting required performance levels, communicating with the race teams and getting their feedback from testing and racing.
After university, I worked in several places: I worked for a small motorcycle company in Italy as mechanic/engineer first, then I worked as a data engineer in the MOTO 3 at the Italian championship, then I worked in World SuperSport as data engineer, then I had a call from Triumph and I accepted the offer.
What was your favourite thing about your course?
I loved the practical aspects and the fact that the teachers come from the Motorcycle industry so they are passionate about their topics.
Would you recommend ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and why?
100% recommended for someone who wants to get a job in motorcycle racing and industry, and live in a vibrant city like Swansea.
