What was your favourite thing about Swansea campus?

Studying at the Dynevor campus, in the city centre of Swansea, felt like a second home, radiating a welcoming and creative environment for all to achieve their academic goals.

At Swansea College of Art, students and staff share a collective passion and drive for the creative industry, fostering a supportive and inspiring community. The collaborative atmosphere encourages innovation and growth, making it a place where creativity thrives, and everyone feels valued.

Most importantly, all involved understand the importance that art colleges have in the creative education system.

Why did you choose ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø?

In December 2020, when I began applying for university courses, the global pandemic meant choosing a university was challenging. However, from research and interview processes, the welcoming and inspiring nature of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø stood out. Their commitment to traditional visual communication methods and excellent facilities impressed me.

Unlike larger universities, Swansea College of Art offered smaller class sizes with more tutor contact time giving a personal approach, which would be crucial for my development. Coming from a smaller hometown, I felt that this environment would suit me perfectly, making ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø the ideal choice for my academic journey, one I don’t regret!

What do you enjoy outside your studies?

Outside of my graphic design studies, I am an avid sports enthusiast, with a particular passion for cricket. I regularly played cricket throughout the summer months during my three years of study, having previously played at the highest standard of women’s club cricket in the West Midlands.

This passion for sport often influenced my academic design work, inspiring creativity and innovation. I represented the University’s netball team during my first two years of studies, developing friendships outside of my course. Additionally, I enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends during my time at home.

What do you hope to do when you graduate?

After I graduate, I aspire to secure a graphic design role within the sporting industry, ideally based in the West Midlands. Combining my passion for design with my love for sports would be a dream come true. However, my determination, self-motivation, and entrepreneurial drive fuel my long-term goal of establishing my own freelance design business.

I envision establishing a diverse portfolio of clients and projects, allowing me to explore my creativity while having the freedom to shape my own professional path. Additionally, of course, I will continue to play cricket!

What was your favourite thing about your course?

It’s difficult to pick a favourite aspect of the BA (Hons) Graphic Design course because I’ve cherished every moment over the last three academic years. However, the personal approach stands out. The connections formed with the teaching staff significantly enhance confidence, ignite creativity, and provide a constant supportive presence.

This personalised attention, rare in larger universities, fosters an environment where ideas flourish. Being in an art college amplifies this dynamic – surrounded by peers who share the same creative spark, ideas bounce off each other, creating not just friendships but also invaluable business connections for the future.

Would you recommend ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and why?

I highly recommend ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø to any prospective students seeking a nurturing environment to grow both academically and personally. While the decision to attend university can feel daunting, chasing your dreams is essential, and Swansea College of Art is undoubtedly the place where this can happen.

The University offers abundant opportunities for academic development and self-discovery. Moreover, the inviting atmosphere of both the University and the city of Swansea provides a vibrant student community. Also, the unique blend of the seaside and the city centre offers the best of both worlds for students!
