Oliver's BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering Experience
What was your favourite thing about Swansea campus?
I thought the facilities were very modern and had everything you could possibly need.
Why did you choose ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø?
I chose UTWSD because I had heard good things about them, and I did my HNC in Pembrokeshire College but through ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. This made it the clear path for me to study my degree.
What did you enjoy outside your studies?
For the first two years, I worked at Consort Ltd. as an electrical engineer. Twelve months before my course was due to finish, I started working for EDF.
Outside of work, I enjoy going on hikes, fishing, and going to the gym.
What are you doing now, how did you get to where you are and how has your course helped you in your career?
I am due to graduate this summer, and I work for EDF at HPC. This summer, I will relocate to Paris for nine months of training.
I think the combination of working in engineering whilst studying at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø has been key to my progression and no doubt has helped me to get the job I have.
I was able to learn the practical side of things whilst working at Consort (my old job) whilst the lecturers at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø taught me the theoretical side of things, although they were very good at teaching us the topics in real life situations and applications too.
What was your favourite thing about your course?
My favourite thing about the course was learning in-depth information about various topics within Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
Would you recommend ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and why?
I would recommend ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø to anyone. The facilities are excellent, and the lecturers go above and beyond to help you.
They supported me through my change of job. With the new job, it would have been challenging to continue my studies for the remaining 12 months of my course due to relocation to Paris in summer 2024. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø allowed me to ‘fast track’ and complete all of my work by January 2024. This was invaluable to me.
