Evening Courses in Swansea
Running throughout the year the Art After Dark programme offers courses in a range of creative disciplines, including design & applied arts, photography, film, digital media and fine art.
All our courses are accredited at Level 4 (10 credits) and are designed to suit beginners or those that simply want to develop their creative skills and knowledge.
Art After Dark also provides an excellent opportunity for people who are thinking of going on to further study but would like to explore subjects, identify strengths and develop portfolios. Students gain access to excellent support, industry standard equipment and facilities.
All our courses are held in the Alex Design Exchange and the Dynevor Centre for Art Design & Media.
Cost: £220 for 10 weeks.

Start date: Wednesday 19.02.25
Time: 5.30 – 8.30pmThe Ceramic course aims to build technical knowledge and sculptural skills within the ceramic practice in an exciting, creative learning environment.
A key aspect of this course is to develop clay modelling techniques, to gain and develop an understanding of figurative proportions, 2D and 3D observational skills, as well as an introduction to core ceramic techniques.

Time: 5.30 – 8.30pm A hands-on introduction to the skills and techniques of stained glass painting.
Learn traditional techniques and apply them to develop your own practice. Suitable for beginners or those who would like to develop their practice.Tutors: Zoe Bolton and Moly Ashford

Start date: Wednesday 19.02.25
Time: 5.30 – 8.30pm Learn to create effective illustrations for social media, poster design and storytelling. Suitable for those with no previous experience, or to develop an existing portfolio the course will provide a hands on introduction to traditional, digital and collage techniques. Lessons will be taught in a professional workshop inside the art school where students will be supported by staff to create a portfolio demonstrating the skills learnt throughout the course.

Start Date: Weds 12th Feb
This course covers the fundamentals of photography and how to utilise these skills to create cohesive and contemporary art works.
Starting with the exposure triangle we will look at all of the key skills required within photography from digital to analogue. The course will be utilising ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Swansea College of Art’s industry standard lighting studio, digital editing suite and scanners. Additionally, we will explore analogue processes from shooting and developing to experimentation in the dark room. The course is designed with an emphasis on learning transferable skills allowing students to continue their visual explorations outside of the sessions using their own cameras and phones.
The ethos of this course is to empower and support students to produce a cohesive and expressive body of work, with experimentation as key. Accumulating, in a series of six photographic outcomes, an individual portfolio and the opportunity to showcase your work in the university’s contemporary gallery space Stwdio Griffith.
This course is suitable for all abilities.

This module gives students with no previous knowledge and those looking to improve their practice the opportunity experiment and combine mediums while learning new techniques. Content includes lino relief printing, reduction relief printing, mono printing and dry point etching. Lessons will be taught in a professional workshop inside the art school where students will be supported by staff to create a portfolio demonstrating
